Soy…
It’s a lovely vegetable with excellent health benefits…yeah I tried to do that in my best Mrs. Cleaver voice. The truth is soy is good for you when processed a certain way and eaten in moderate quantities. But I’m pretty sure no manufacturing company is going to tell you that because it would hurt the sales of their products since soy is in just about…EVERYTHING from packaged foods to lotions and hair care products!
What most people don’t know is that the majority of the soybeans used to make products in this country are genetically modified (GM) and sprayed with pesticides. Also, soy naturally contains anti-nutrients that when overeaten can cause adverse health problems such as vitamin D and B12 deficiencies, exposure to MSG and aluminum, blood clotting, and thyroid issues in women like hypothyroidism and thyroid cancer among other things.
Soy also is a phytoestrogen (imitation estrogen) that blocks “normal” estrogen and can increase the risk of developing endocrine problems, infertility, and cancer. So imagine all the products that you consume daily that contain unfermented soy. That means the bread you eat, processed meats, packaged foods, vegetable oils, soy milks, tofu, lotions, shampoos/conditioners (your body absorbs everything you put on it)…you name it. Most people are consuming these products multiple times a day giving your body an estrogen overload! Plus 75% of Americans don’t eat enough fruits and vegetables that provide the body with fiber and detox nutrients that can help rid the body of all this excessive estrogen. Not to mention the poor babies who are consuming this as well which is why many doctors say you should never feed your baby soy formula.
I’m pretty sure you’re starting to see where I’m going with this. Men and women alike are walking around with all this estrogen built up in their bodies *shiver* and not properly riding their bodies of it.
Can you imagine the side effects?
…Not going to point any fingers but there are way too many men walking around with moobs! And too many women developing female-specific cancers. This was not happening 50 years ago. So now you’re wondering …what kind of soy can I eat?
Fermented Soy
The process of fermented soy from organic soybeans is natural and helps neutralize the anti-nutrients so that your body can benefit from all the great things about soy. This includes preventing cardiovascular disease, cancer, and osteoporosis.
